Moving

>> Sunday, April 22, 2007

It's finally almost here....moving day! Dewey and I are living in a house full of boxes. Even though I was CONVINCED we would never get done...we are. We have one or two more boxes to pack with our bed linens, TV, PVR, etc. Dewey actually suggested that we take the TV down on Saturday (even though we don't move until Tuesday)! As if! We meet our realtor tomorrow night (Monday) to do the walkthrough & to get our keys. Then the movers arrive on Tuesday morning. Thankfully my friend Heather came to help me pack yesterday. It is so much harder to fall into the procrastination zone when there is someone there to help you. Claire (aka Nana) is also going to come to help us unpack on Tuesday night & Wednesday. Yea! Hopefully we will have the house up and running in no time.

I can't tell you how excited I am to finally be moving. We got new neighbors in the condo & they have a dog....a very loud dog...I like to call it the hell hound. It doesn't bark as long as they are home but the minute they leave it barks it's fool head off. Thankfully we only had to put up with a week of this before we move. I'm no psychic but I see condo board intervention in their future!

I have made Dewey promise that we are going to stay in our new house for at least 5 years. In the past three years we moved from Texas to Calgary, from the South Calgary rental to the North Calgary rental to the condo. I've had enough! No more moving!

Well I better run. We've ordered pizza that should be here any minute. I am SICK of eating out but it's better than not having the kitchen packed up....right?

Comments Tutorial

Okay, so I've heard from a couple of my faithful blog readers that there is some confusion about the whole "commenting" thing. Like how to do it, do you have to have an account, etc. Since I LOVE comments, I figured I would try to clear things up for everyone.

Commenting is easy.....let's try it now. See down at the bottom right corner of this post where it says "0 comments" (or some other number)? Click on that. You will go into the comments screen. All you have to do is type your comment & then click on the circle beside "Other". Type your name where it says "Name". Then hit "Publish Comment". You might be asked to verify that you are a human by copying some letters/numbers, etc into a blank.

See? Wasn't that easy? Now I'm sure you will all leave me tons of comments. Right? Right! :)

Will broke that board!
Will & Master Cha
Showing off his new belt

How does he always manage to pick sparring partners bigger than him?

A couple of weeks ago, Will graduated to a yellow belt in Tai Kwon Do. He worked really hard to learn all the moves that were required for his yellow belt. Way to go, Will!

28 weeks....only 12 more to go

Though 3 months to go seems a long time, it'll be here before I know it. Here's the latest "bump" picture. The bump really gets in the way when I'm trying to pack up our house to get ready to move!

Cutest Dog Ever!

>> Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Here's a picture of my friend (and co-worker) Erin's new pug puppy. His name is Edgar. He is the cutest puppy I have ever seen! Erin deserves such a cute puppy b/c she has to put up with all the baby talk going on all the time. She works in the same group as me at work. There are only 8 (and only 4 girls) of us in the group & 2 of us are pregnant. She gets inundated with baby talk ALL the time. Now she gets to fight back with puppy talk. She brought Edgar into the office today to show us & he's even cuter in person!

Congrats Erin on your new puppy!

100th Post - More Baby Purchases

>> Sunday, April 01, 2007

Even though we have 3 more months before the baby gets here, I really wanted to get some of the big baby purchases out of the way. Every weekend tends to be very busy for one or both of us so it's hard to find a time that we can both shop. Dewey would be more than happy for me to pick everything but I want him to help (at least a little). Soooo......we got up early on Saturday to head to breakfast & the baby store before Dewey's scheduled flight (for his pilot's license).

First we went to breakie at Cora's in far south Calgary. I'd heard that it was a great breakfast place and boy were they right! Cora's is a chain that started in Quebec that focuses on breakfasts with lots of fresh fruit. Just my kind of place. I had a Belgian Waffle with custard and a "mountain of fresh fruit". In the words of Rachel Ray "Yum-O!" We will definitely be back, though after we move it will be very FAR from home.

After breakfast it was off to Bo Bebe'. We like this place b/c they are very service focussed and they aren't that much more expensive than the big box stores (Babies R Us & the like). We knew that we liked a crib from there (see picture) but we weren't sure if they would have it in stock....they didn't. We ordered that. Then we turned to the car seat decision. There are so many different ones with different features, etc. Unfortunately Bo Bebe' only carries Peg Perego which I was kind of against b/c I think they're too expensive. BUT Dewey was there & we were running out of time so he went into "comparison" mode. He looked at the 3 options & "of course" picked the most expensive one. Knowing that I would not be able to drag him out again any time soon....I pulled out the credit card & bought it. Could we have saved money...yes....am I glad it's done....yes. The other positive is that Bo Bebe' will keep the car seat for us until the crib comes in (4-6 weeks). That means it won't have to be moved when we move....Yea!

So now we just need to buy a twin bed & dresser for the baby's room & we're close to done. I think I've decided to match the twin bed & dresser to each other instead of matching the dresser to the crib. The crib is kind of black in color (Java) so I think I will go with a white bed & a white dresser. I've also decided to forgo the normal baby crib set for the time being. You aren't supposed to leave any of that stuff (blanket, bumper pads, etc) in with the baby anyway so why spend all that money? I may change my mind but that's the plan at this point.

Well enough boring baby talk.....sorry to be so "one track mind" lately but I can't help it! :)
