Happy Earth Day! How is your family celebrating? Since it's a week day and I have to work we're not doing any big kind of celebration. We try to make green decisions on a daily basis instead of being green on one holiday day.
We are very lucky that Calgary had a wonderful recycling program. We get a big blue bin that we put all our recycling in. They pick it up the same day as the garbage to take it to the recycling center. It has really cut down on the amount of garbage we throw away! I still see people in my neighborhood who put out 5-10 bags of garbage per week!!!! I just want to knock on their door and say "Ummmm....exactly HOW are you making this much garbage because you really need to cut back!"
For the last few weeks I have had the pleasure of trying out some new earth friendly paper products. Majesta brand paper products are available in Canada. They are not a recycled paper but they make the Treesponsible promise - They plant 3 trees for every one tree that they use to make their paper products. Their products are also free of chlorine, dyes and fragrances.
When I got my products I was like "Yeah, yeah, yada, yada.....but how do the feel?" I would buy all their products. The toilet paper is not as soft as....say Charmin...but it is very soft. Much softer than recycled toilet paper. Their paper towels work great and are a smaller size. (I find that some paper towels are HUGE & I always feel that they are way to big for the job!) They do seem to be a bit flimsier than my normal brand of paper towels....it was hard to get a sheet to tear off the roll cleanly. The facial tissue was great. I think the Majesta brand was just as soft and strong as my normal brand.
