New York - Day 1

New York tip #1 - Bring comfortable shoes!
We walked almost 10k today before 4pm! I know....crazy! So far we've gone to FAO Schwartz, Tiffany's, Rockefeller Center, Top of the Rock, the TKTS booth. We've done LOTS of people watching & walked, walked, walked. Now we're having a rest before going out to a dinner & a Broadway show. We're seeing "Memphis". We were on the fence because there were so many great options. One of the security guards at the TKTS line told everyone to go see Memphis. He was so emphatic about it that I decided that was what we should see (since Nana made me choose!). It was sooooo awesome! It's the best Broadway show I have ever seen (I've seen 4 on Broadway) hands down. We're going to go back tomorrow to thank him for the great recommendation.
Well, it's the end of the day & it seems like we've been here a week already. Tomorrow we have our big city tour so it should be fun though possibly tiring. Hopefully I'll have more pictures to post tomorrow.
Top Ten Tuesday - New York City
>> Tuesday, May 11, 2010
So I'm off to New York on Wednesday with my Mother in Law (aka Nana). We are going to have so much fun!!!! My very first Top Ten Tuesday post is all about the things I am looking forward to seeing in New York City.
- Real New York Tours - We're taking the Dozen Apples Tour. 6 hours in Manhatten in a small group (12 ppl) with a native New Yorker for a tour guide.
- The 9th Avenue International Food Festival - I've heard that it has gone hill the last few years but I still want to check it out.
- FAO Schwarz Toy Store - Because I'm a big kid at heart & it is the best toy store EVAH!
- Tiffany & Co - Diamonds ARE a girl's best friend (or at least sterling silver which is surprisingly affordable at Tiffany)
- Broadway - We're not sure what we are going to see because we've decided to chance it & hit the TKTS line. Cross your fingers that we'll get tickets to something good!
- Central Park - We've had a late Spring here in Calgary so I'm hoping that Central Park with be in full Spring bloom.
- Times Square - It's cheesy but no trip to New York would be complete without a gawk at Times Square. Our hotel is pretty near there too.
- Greenwich Village - I've always wanted to explore this neighborhood & now's my chance! The guidebook I bought has a great route through the village.
- The New York Public Library - Hey I'm a Sex in the City fan...what more can I say?
- Little Italy - No trip is complete without dinner in Little Italy!
