First Snow of the Fall!

>> Saturday, October 03, 2009

As we were leaving the Pfantastic Pannenkoek house after breakfast, it started to snow. Evan and Dewey went outside to try to catch snowflakes on their tongues. Evan thought that was the most fun EVER!

Any snow where you are yet?

Calgary Corn Maze

We celebrated Dewey's return home on Thursday night with a trip to the Calgary Corn Maze on Friday. Dewey and I both had the day off so we took advantage of the relatively mild weather (11°C or about 52°F) to visit the corn maze before the weekend when the forecast called for cold & snow. This decision meant that we missed the "pumpkin patch" and "pumpkin hunt". I do not regret this decision, though, as the weather today is cold (4°C so far) and we've had some snow flurries.

This place has lots for everyone....corn mazes (regular & an easier kids version), play structures, hay bales with slides, petting zoo, cow train. Funny thing is that we didn't set one foot in any of the corn mazes! There were lots of other things for a toddler to do without it. We spent just over an hour & a half there. We could have stayed longer but Evan's eyes were getting very red. Not sure if it's an allergy to hay, the dust or a bit of both.

Climbing the hay bales.

There were slides at the top. Evan said they were "very, very fast, mama!"

When did he get big enough to do this??????

Riding the cow train...the cars were pulled by a riding lawnmower. I wanted to ride with Evan but he kicked me out.

Plenty of room to run!

Seesawing with Daddy

Evan loves goats!

and bunnies

Aren't my guys handsome?!

Dewey teaching all the "city slickers" how to throw a lasso.

Evan had a blast and didn't want to come home. We did have a bit of a meltdown, though, because he just doesn't understand that you can't run up behind ponies and donkeys. It always scares the bejezous out of me b/c I'm afraid he'll get kicked!

Oh and note to self....don't try to catch Evan at the bottom of the slide when you have the SLR camera around your neck. He was NOT impressed when it banged him in the head. Oops!
