Happy Birthday Evan!

>> Monday, June 28, 2010

My little man is 3 today.  I can't believe he is getting so big! It seems like just yesterday that I woke up at 5am because my water broke.  He decided he wasn't quite ready to come out because he didn't make his appearance until 11pm that night.

These days he is a wonderful mix of loving little boy, jokey jokester & little terror.  Every day he is learning something new and making me shake my head at his newest antics.  In the past three years, I've also grown up a lot and learned this wonderful job of being a mommy.  I've started to relax a bit and not worry as much (I know that Dewey will shake his head at this because he still says I worry entirely too much).  I still want to wrap him in bubble wrap sometimes so that I can make sure he is safe but I know that he needs to experience the world to learn.  It just hurts my heart to think that he might get an "ouchy" in the process.  All in all....we couldn't even imagine life without him.  He is a little guy who makes a big difference in our lives.

Okay....enough sappy mama talk!  On with the party pics!

We had lots of family & friends over yesterday to celebrate with us.  Much fun & food was had by all....well everyone except Evan.  All he ate was watermelon, chips & a huge cupcake.  Oh well....it was his birthday!

He licked all the icing off & then reached for another cupcake.  Thankfully I caught him before he actually got another one.

Happy Graduation, Will!

>> Sunday, June 27, 2010

This weekend has been so busy that I have lots to post about.  I don't have time to upload all the pics tonight so I will post over the next few days!

Will graduated from sixth grade last week.  He is very glad to be done with Elementary School and heading to Middle School.  He's a little worried that next year might be harder than sixth grade but I think he's ready for the challenge.  This year has been an up and down year with respect to grades & school but I have faith that if he just focusses he will do great!

He's getting to be so handsome!

Out comes the bunny years

Dewey is very much the proud Dad!  Don't they look alike?

The Big Boy Bed!

>> Sunday, January 03, 2010

Well, we finally did it! We finally moved Evan out of the crib and into a "big boy bed". It's actually a bunk bed. We've been talking it up for a while but, honestly, we were too lazy to move him. The crib was just so EASY! Evan never tried to climb/jump/fall out so when he didn't want to go to bed we just left him in there to figure it out. Moving to a big boy bed meant that he could....*gasp*...get out of bed by himself! Oh the horror! I was all for letting him sleep in the crib until he left home for university but I eventually figured out that he had to move to a big bed eventually.

Evan's room has always lacked any style whatsoever. I never bought the big crib set (I was too scared by all the "take those crib bumpers out or your CHILD WILL DIE!" warnings) and I never decorated much. He did have a few cheapo pictures from Ikea but that was it. I figured that this new bed was an opportunity to make up for lost time. I headed to HomeSense (kind of like TJMaxx for the Americans in the crowd) to find some matching comforters. I lucked out and got some with an awesome space theme & matching pillows. Then off to Costco for some nice fleece sheets. Evan loves the new linens so much that he asked to "Sleep in mine di-a-per". That didn't last long, though, and he's now in pajamas and his sleep sack.

So, you might wonder how this first night in the big boy bed is going. Well, I've had to go up once already & he's been yelling "Evan doesn't want a big boy bed!" every few minutes. Your guess is as good as mine on how much sleep we'll get tonight.

My little boy is growing up! *sniff*
