Negative Blog Comments

Well I guess I'm a "real" blogger now!  I got my first nasty blog comment today.  After almost 5 years of blogging, I guess it's about time.  It kind of cracks me up.

Today I got an email showing that I had a new comment on my Calgary Corn Maze post from last year.  When I opened it here's what I found....

"From Anonymous:


Im looking for information on the Calgary Corn Maze and I find this. Why do people put this garbage on the internet. Why would you report to the world that you went to a corn maze? Stunning clutter.

Dave"


This really makes me laugh for a few reasons:

1. He actually commented.  How long does it take to just click "Back" if the page brought up by Google isn't the one you want.  I BEG readers to leave comments but this is what I get.  Ha!
2. Has he SEEN the internet?  If I'm clutter then what are all the spammer sites, p0rn sites, etc?  Really!
3. No I don't give time/date info for the corn maze but if you have small children, reading a blog about the experience of someone similar to you can be helpful.

Anyhoo.  I just thought I would share because I thought it was hilarious!  So have you gotten negative "troll" comments on your blog?  How do you handle it/what do you think?  I would love to hear your experiences!

• Crafting with Recyclables - Design a Robot Kit - This is but one example of the great ideas over at the Frugal Family Fun Blog.  This is a great second life for a foil chip bag!

Ultimate Blog Party 2010 - The After Party

For all you non-bloggers out there a Blog Party might be kind of hard to understand.  Heck, it was hard for me to understand until I decided to participate in Ultimate Blog Party 2010 (UBP10) over at 5 Minutes for Mom.  I hoped that it would increase traffic on my blog and maybe get me a few more followers (it did both).  What I didn't realize is that it would introduce me to a ton of awesome blogs.  I have followed so many new blogs that my Google Reader is bursting at the seams.

Welcome to my blog...Merry with Children (formerly Merry and Dewey in Canada).  My name is Merry (really!).  I am an American living in Canada with my wonderful husband, Dewey, and my little boy, Evan.  About 5 1/2 years ago I decided to move to Canada, marry my husband, change jobs and become a stepmom to two great kids (Will & Nicole).  Talk about upheaval!  Shortly after the big move, I started blogging.  Back then I blogged to keep family & friends up to date on what we were up to.....now I blog for me!  Don't get me wrong....I love followers, comments, etc but I love the writing and camaraderie with fellow bloggers even more!

This blog is all about my everyday life.  I write about what we do, things I find that I enjoy and things that the kids like.  I also try to post at least one recipe per week.  Don't forget to check out my Recipe Index for lots of great recipes!   I love taking pictures and I keep hoping to get the time to focus on improving my photography skills...until then...bear with me!

In my "real" life, I work full time in sales.  I sell process control equipment to oil & gas companies.  Sounds boring, huh?  That's what I get for being an engineer!  My favorite things in life are friends, family, traveling, reading, photography, cooking....and tons of other hobbies I don't have time for!
